Same as the rest of the coast of Murcia, Mazarrón has a mild climate, with high temperatures in summer and moderate during the rest of the year. Within the Mediterranean climate, Mazarrón has a special microclimate which make its conditions to be excellent throughout the year for enjoying the beach, the nature and water sports.
On one hand, the municipality is surrounded by mountains (Sierra del Algarrobo and Sierra de las Moreras) that prevent northerly winds to penetrate in the area, which has an annual average temperature of 18º.
Moreover, by its location in the Gulf of Mazarrón, between the Cape of Palos and Cape of Gata (Almería), makes that the cold currents from the Atlantic through the Strait of Gibraltar do not affect the water temperature, being 5 degrees over the rest of the Mediterranean Sea temperature.
