Mazarrón is in the south of the Community of Murcia, it limits with the municipalities of Cartagena and Fuente Álamo in the east, Alhama de Murcia and Totana in the north, Lorca in the west and the Mediterranean Sea in the south.


 

It has a surface area of 318.7 km ² and a population of more than thirty-five thousand inhabitants. It is 25m over the sea level and 70 km from Murcia, the capital of the Region.

Its geographical location in the Mediterranean arch, and specifically in the so-called Gulf of Mazarrón, has provided the town with a number of characteristics which have shaped its manner, that is the fruit of diversity of people and cultures which have settled on its territory.

Without doubt, the charm of this place lies on its varied and numerous beaches, exactly 35 km of coast, of which 10 km are still virgin coves offering a great natural beauty, not only for the landscape but also for its amazing sea bed. Mazarrón is also charming for its excellent temperature all over the year, appealing gastronomy or the various leisure activities offered to people who want to enjoy water and underwater activities, hiking, historical heritage and many other things. Mazarrón, beyond the quantifiable data, offers a complex image built by the sea, mountains, fields, its mining past, agricultural present and tourist future.
